Bad Idea!

Azaleas need moist (not wet) well drained soil and do not like wet "feet". They get root rot if kept to moist. They need air on the roots.

Your idea could work of you had an acidic sandy soil or used an acidic sandy soil mix in raised beds.

I would think more along the line of hydrangeas. They love moisture. I have an area with springs and planted a mixture of most every kind of hydrangea I could find there. They love it. I also planted some swamp azaleas there and they are doing well also.

Some hydrangeas bloom all summer.
