It would look unique, colorful, interesting and complimentary. Wondering couch's location to best compliment this new piece. Could your tv/console fit on blank wall, move couch to long wall and add your new piece above (which will also take eye away from AC) and move mirror to other side of couch. Or move couch in front of window, or placed down so it sits in front of wall area? Then play with mirror/new piece's locations.

Thanks for the reassurance! I did think of placing it on the other side but I haven't decided yet. I would be custom making this so I'll be trying to find some motifs that replicate a little bit of the rug. I hope I can put this together well. Are you sure if it's fine if the styles don't entirely match?

It's fine, it coordinates very well in fact. No need to curate your house like a museum, with every room devoted to a single region and century. A blend makes more sense. Look to mood, formality, etc. E.g. a very polished, high-style lacquered cabinet might clash with a very rustic treenware trencher.

I'm all for mixing things up. It makes things more interesting I think... but this is coming from someone with a room that has a Chinese charcoal drawing, African carvings, a Vietnamese sketch, masks from Bali and Africa and a North American Aboriginal water color! Art can give a glimps into who you are and therefore it's nice to be unique and your pieces will look lovely together.

This was the floor plan 3 years ago when I did my renovation. It is a second floor and it is for a personal space rather than for entertaining guests thus, we didn't need that many chairs.
I will be selling the air walker but have yet to find a buyer. I didn't want to block the windows with the sofa as I love the natural light that pours in and the view of the trees that I have outside.
The sofa looks out of place at the moment solely because I haven't found a good metal fabricator to make a room divider similar to the photo attached. Right now my feel is to have the metal matt black rather than rust as it'll match with my mirror's finish.
I could move the mirror but at the moment the mirror reflects the Chinese art and if installed, the room divider which is the centrepiece of the decor.
Now the fun part is sourcing for the Indian wood printing blocks and making them look antique! I'll keep you guys updated on how it looks when I get a few pieces in. Maybe then we can decide which area or wall it'll look better in.

I like a more eclectic look, personally. The rule I like to follow, which is from some designer on a design show a few years back is: Everything must have a friend in the room. So as long as each piece has ties (color, style, shape, whatever) to something else, it probably will work. I use that rule in my house and it seems to be working well - so far!

Would you mind sharing some pictures of your space? :) I'm not the biggest fan of eclectic but I do acknowledge and appreciate different styles. I'm trying to get a grasp over how different styles work together.

Sure! I will take and upload some shortly. For me, eclectic is when 2-3 styles are mixed; I don't think I could tie together more than that in one room. I am a huge fan of rustic + industrial + feminine in my house, but I realize that might sound odd without any visuals...

I love the eclectic look, if you can pull it off, it's a very personal style. Check pinterest for eclectic and see what comes up ;)
