You could use a purple that is more grayed--look at Pratt and Lambert Columbine--it is a great color.

is that 3 different color walls? does the TV need to be there for some reason? can you mount it to the gray wall instead?

the colour grey in the ref pic would suit the surround colour of yr fireplace.
Is it possible to mount a swivel TV on the wall of the FP?

What if you continued that gray color onto the fireplace wall to make the space seem bigger. You could also do a darker grey for some drama and contrast. Since you like Purple you could use that or some other color for accents on your mantle in the form of vases, frames, sculptures etc. Also add some shine to your space by adding some warm toned metallic elements This will add some dimension and bring in the warm colors found in your tile.As for the ceiling I believe that just doing it a little bit darker than your ceiling would add just a subtle contrast. Think really really light grey possibly. This would also compliment your wall color. Good luck!

Thanks for your feedback everyone. We haven't painted the other wall grey yet (thus 3 colors). The TV is actually mounted on the grey wall. Thoughts on mounting over fireplace? Should the fireplace and wall be same color?
I'm considering painting the now purple wall a brick red. We have this combo in our master. The red might go better with the beige tile of the fireplace.
Also, should mention the opposing wall (in kitchen) is currently painting purple.

I would repaint, I don't love the purple in that room with the fireplace. The purple is too loud and off in that room. Very jarring. You can do better. We have good color experts on here too. I hope they jump in to help.

Think about using a deeper gray like BM Kendall Charcoal for all the walls in the room and an eggplant shade instead of lavender for your feature wall. This would create a more elegant sophisticated backdrop.

I should mention the grey is a little deeper than the picture.

we mean for it to be mounted further down in the middle of the gray wall, not in the corner. and I would paint all the walls the gray color, and the fireplace surround a deeper gray or white might be nice to make that pop. the ceiling molding, and the fireplace are enough detail that you dont need an accent wall, it already is.

I suggested a softer purple, colombine, however I have re-thought the color and think you should look at Behr (home depot) light muted purple --color CINEMA SCREEN
