Yes, I too have learnt alot from this form. Especially things we take for granted when we are fully capable of doing things without any second thought to it.

There are alot of things that my Mom can no longer do now which I would not have thought was a problem before. Only when one is faced with such a situation does one really think "we don't really live in a fully accessible world yet". I am glad we live in a society that takes an active responsibility in making places more and more accessible.

I will no longer take accessiblity for granted anymore and now have a more profound respect and admiration for those who have to cope with disabilities. Tony

I too took this for granted in my hard charging, go getem world, never stopping to think or appreciate the "good life" until it started slowly slipping away from me.

I now stop to appreciate things (smell the roses if u will) and give thanks for another good day and to have the ability and presence of mind to still do the things I so desperatly cling to.

To me being able to garden is almost a "sanity check". Here in my little corner of the world I can totally enjoy and seek to forget all the problems, trials and tribulations this world so frequently offers.

Amunhotep I too have a disability that is slowly taking away my strength and the ability to do the things I love. My rather pathetic way of raging against the disease process ends up with tiring myself out past the point of good sense. I had been planting in my garden beds for the past three days, and today when I went to work I almost had to come home to lay down in bed to rest. I seem to refuse to accept the prognosis (COPD). But I agree with you that the gardening keeps me sane, it's a way to be artistically creative.
