Caryl, they should be fine to transplant now. Poppies are pretty hardy. I have volunteers from last year's plants growing pretty well right now.

Thanks. Since my dianthus and hollyhocks are up from last year then I'm guessing it's OK to transplant those, too.

Poppies, dianthus, and hollyhocks reseed in the fall here and overwinter. We were down to 12 degrees several nights and a week not going above freezing, so they'll survive a light or heavy frost and freeze. My dianthus are evergreen.

For what it's worth, I planted out a bunch of my poppies--both annuals and perennial types. I am glad I did, the tiny little things seem to be doing fine even with this heat. The only reason I haven't planted all of them out is that I must have been sniffing too many household chemicals when I sowed so many containers. LOL.
