Dark wood cabinets or White kitchen cabinets?

We are about to redo the kitchen but we cant decide to go light or dark. We originally wanted to go with white because it looks great in pictures but after see it in the showrooms it looks cheap. And worry that it will yellow over time. There is a good amount of light in the room. It will be a galley kitchen with an island. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Snowfla89, Which way did you decide to go with your cabinets? I have had white in the past and they actually held up really well, but I've also seen them yellow over time. It depends on the type of paint you use.

The renovations are unfortunately on hold because we are trying to get the plans approved for a 2 family house. We are going with dark kitchen cabinets. But we going white in the bathroom so we have a little of both. :)

I think of it like this. its like you are going to wear black and white. because you loveblack and white. it doesn't matter too much if you wear a black top and white pants or other way around. so if its light cabinets , get some color in there ,and if they are dark... you can lighten the counters.
