You could do as a Pinyon Jay, but (as Pinyon Jays do!) you'd risk losing a lot to rodents. Better to put them in the fridge (at +1 or +2°C) dry for a month or two, then a month in the fridge (same temp) in damp sand for pre-germination treatment. Then sow in early spring when the daylight and temperatures rise, either indoors in pots, or outdoors when the risk of frost is over.
