I was in a Home Depot store last week going through the garden area when some potted bamboo caught my eye. They were in 5 gal. pots and looked very healthy . The sticker on the pots said it was "golden Bamboo". the hanging tag said "phyllostachys Aurea" and said it was a "Clumping" Bamboo. I thought that was a little strange. On closer examination I realized it wasn't even Phy. aurea "golden". It was actually Phy. aureosulcata "spectabilis". When I pointed this out to the clerk, she just shrugged and said that's how it came. Now I would rather have Spectabilis over Golden any day, but I also like to know for sure what something is before I sell it
