We had exactly the same thing last year. There were so many bees in our yard that you would have to shuffle through them as you walked.

We found one of the holes and sprayed it one evening before we went to bed. The next morning the hole was HUGE and the honey combs were all around in the grass. I think that the bees actually did it, trying to escape the poison.

I would like some information on this as well. I got stung earlier in the summer while weeding. About a week later I discovered a hole in the ground and bees going in and out like crazy.

I'm really hoping not to have to spray and kill them as they are outside where they belong and I know honey bees are necessary. On the other hand, eek! It's difficult to get to that section of my yard and weeding is out of the question.

Will winter kill them? Will they leave when the queen dies? If so, how long do queens live?
