What part of the cleaning are you speaking of - top or oven? No matter what the style, gas is messier to clean by far. I have been through training on all of these lines, and they each have their strengths in cooking. Type/BTU of flame .. convection blowers in oven and of course grate styles. Clients usually sway on esthetics to help make their decision. ex: like the red knobs, like the grate style. But do not discredit lighting, how smooth the rakes are .. and warranty!

when it comes down to it, what cooktop ISNT a pain to clean? :-) they key is to keep up with it .. build up of grease is the culprit really. Sometimes when they burn on so long, it can be near difficult to remove from s/s. With gas.. the fumes can add to the build up, especially the grates. But an easy fix? Spray oven cleaner on the grates (or amonia!) and wrap in a trash bag -- leaving it outside for a coule of hours. The grime can practically be wiped off! Convection ovens? Breeze... #1 they dont dirty as much as regular ovens (the moving air helps burn stuff off), in addition... you still have self clean option! Just remember to remove the racks!
