A sweet pea perhaps

i think you are correct, betsy ... and it occurred to me it looked like a sweet pea, but sweet pea is a spring bloomer in La. so i discounted the thought. but i googled sweet pea, and found this.

Yup, Betsy is correct. It's a sweet pea, although it's the perennial type, not the annual type. They grow in lots of the higher elevation areas of AZ and I always love seeing them up in the mountains. I grow the annual types in winter here in Phoenix, but these perennial types (which come back from the roots each spring) need more winter cold than we can give them. Love yours, enjoy them!
