Which kind? There are over 150 different species of Lantana. One of the most popular is L. camara, and it can be grown from seed. It doesn't need cold strat, and germinates at about 68°F. In warmer climates, it's considered a weed.

I don't know which kind. I got them in pots at Walmart and set them out in huge tubs. They are pink and yellow mixed.

You've probably got the camara. The seeds are like little berries - when they turn black and are dry and wrinkly, they're ready. You could also take cuttings and keep them going over the winter, inside probably, in your zone. If you do sow the seed, try starting them nearer to spring than in the dead of winter.

I tried the trailing lantana (montevidensis) a few years back - got beautiful foliage, but nary a flower. Gotta give that one another shot - it's very pretty.

Lantana germinates very easy for me using the wsing method.I have several colors and living in a tourist town gives me the advantage of going all over town snatching seeds for the lantana the city plants everywhere.I have a red one this yr. that is gorgeous.I am going to take cuttings and hopefully get seed for this one.Just make sure the seed are dried good.
moonphase

I got two seedlings from my winter sown lantana this year but even the biggest one has yet to bloom. It's on my too-slow-from-seed list now but maybe if I was a little further south where it's perennial I would try it again.

Christie, thanks for this little tidbit of information. I got some l. camara berries while shopping at Lowe's today, brought them home and cleaned them up and started researching but didn't find anything relevant to our zone, until I found your post. Guess these seeds will end up in a seed swap, no sense wasting them! Darn it, too - those are pretty flowers... there was Dallas Red, and another one I couldn't find the name of that were yellow and pink. Ah well. I got some butterfly weed for 20 cents, it will have to do. :-)
