ttlc: Actually, we don't use a greenhouse. Our wintersown containers go outside, starting in winter. Rain, snow, freezing, and thawing help to break seed coats, break dormancy. No winter sun necessary.

I am also a upstate NY'er. I tried WS last year and loved it. I have several people at work this year who are going to try it after they have seen how many nice plants I gained and gave away from WS. I had about 90% germination rate. I used milk jugs and juice bottles as my pots and started after Christmas. Have fun and good luck.
