High-Intensity L E D Lights

I would like to extend my short growing season for an extra month, or two, by moving two, small, Cyphostemma under a high-intensity, LED lights.

I will move the plant(s) at the end of each day, from full-sun, and place them under the lights. I will return the plants to full-sun each day, then back under the lights at night. The lights will turn off for a dark period of about 6 hours. This routine will start towards the end of the summer season, but before plants show any signs of the onset of dormancy. As the days grow shorter, cooler, and after the plants start to go dormant, I will leave plants in natural lighting until fully dormant, then store the plants cool and dry, until they break dormancy. I was hoping to extend the growing period so that the plants could increase in size more quickly. NYC is not Southern California when it comes to growing plants, so I thought the supplemental lighting would help.

If LED lights, or, any CFL would work, what color temp. wattage, etc?

Is this an unnecessary, waste of time and money....or, can this work as an option? Your thoughts, please.

Frank
