Stripes are usually caused by viruses or genetics. Many striped camellias will sometimes revert to their parent bloom suddenly, as you have seen. You end up with one stem or area producing "abnormal" blooms and the rest of the shrub producing striped blooms. I had one Eleanor McCown that the dogs have since destroyed; on years 2-3, it produced both types of blooms.

i think it is the cultivar 'la peppermint' based on the flower form. my shrub would have flowers of both colors on it. note the solid red ones behind the bi-color in the photo linked below. the trend is typical for this shrub.

Hi, Your bloom looks pink with stripes in the pic. La Peppermint is white with stripes. There are many similiar to your pic, studying the leaves can also help to identify a bloom.
