Hello, plumerianicki. It is a very common problem with new plants. Here are several possible causes to consider.

First check for environmental factors: temp changes (up and down), getting too little or too much water. Next, consider human factors: certain insecticides or fungicides will cause bud drop. If you have recently used one on the camellia or nearby plants, check the label to see if it says that it can cause bud drop. Lastly, some insects can cause bud drop too.

Personally, I think this happened when the environment changed for your plant, i.e., you removed the plant from the nursery, took it home and planted it outside. The plant gets busy trying to adapt to its new surroundings outside the home and we end losing many buds. Mother Nature causes problems like this sometimes when the high temps start going up and down like a yo-yo.

Bottom line: unless other things happen, ignore the problem this year. Pay attention to moisture leves during the summer and remember to water when possible during the winter too.
