Tequila Blue Cactus

I attended the Philadelphia Flower and Garden show for the first time and was very impressed. Of course I could not leave without a plant and bought a Tequila Blue Aquava(sp) cactus.

I know nothing about cacti but for the past month it has thriving. My question is regarding all the new growth that spring up from the bottom that is not part of the primary plant. Can they be cut off, removed and/or transplanted and if so what is the ideal planting medium for this plant.

Any information or insight you may provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Jim
