white help

I am wanting to paint the house I am building in white... I don't pick whites very often and when I do I always struggle with them... does the ceiling go a different white? I am going to have white kitchen cabinets... should I just match that white? What are some really reliable good whites that will look good from location to location... I don't want an very visible undertone but I do want it warm... help would be appreciated

Might I suggest you choose a few whites that you like, and use more than one? I wouldn't try to match the cabinets and the paint exactly, because it's just not possible (unless you're the one painting the cabinets). If the colors are very close but not exact, it will look like a mistake. I'd go with a white that's enough of a difference to look like you meant it.

Hi Alison, It's been a while since you posted. Did you come up with a solution for your whites? Would love to hear what you came up with.

Hi Emily... Oh My I haven't come up with a thing!!! lol... AND my move in date is Dec 22 so I had better pick quickly... I do a lot of colour consultations with people but I have always struggled with white... they are always too something... I think I am just going to go with a soft white and decide after move in if I like it!!! What a horrible answer from a painting company huh??

Thanks orangecamera... the chart helped HUGE!!!! What was I thinking before now??? lol... I really did need that perspective!

I suspect you are right about the cabinets - they are being painted by the cabinet maker in a high gloss and my walls will be matte... I will probably end up with pale colours in my other rooms but the main area will be white and I am really struggling... I am pretty sure I will get out of my own way though and figure it out...
