The terminal leaves on many of my cannas are tightly furled, so that the new leaves or flower spikes cannot poke through them. I have to tear them to allow the new leaves to grow. I have not noticed any silken threads, chewing damage or caterpillars anywhere on the plants (except for obvious Japanese beetle damage: chewed areas on edges of already open leave, with beetle caught in the act!)I have not been ale to find anything on the Internet addressing this problem when leaf rollers are not present. The plants are otherwise very healthy, leaves huge. We had LOTS of rain earlier in the season, and now that it is hot and drier, I am trying to keep them well watered and fertilized. Does anybody have any ideas for me?
