Picture- first praying mantis

I found this creature in my cars trunk while unloading plants and garden supplies(what else?). He must of flown in while it was left open. Sorry Im not posting in the gallery, its just so slow in there! Never seen a wild mantis before, and was happy to find one.

I have had a scorpion run in my house a few winters ago while unloading groceries at night! And snakes, salamanders, skinks, and of course fence lizards sharing my yard.

They are such beautiful creatures (I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder)!

There was a BIG one welcoming customers in Lowe's (Vacaville) last week. :D I haven't seen any in my yard yet this year, but I had a few out there last year.

Thanks for sharing!

I've never seen them olive colored but only green as in the last photo.

By the way, those are the fingernails of a true gardener LOL :)
