I am thinking either too much water or not enough heat?

It gets morning shade but full afternoon sun. Gets watered less that once a week.

I see them growing along hiway 92 in the Halfmoon Bay area with no care and very little sun, so I have no clue why yours do not bloom. Al

Mine took about three years to bloom. Bloomed for another three years and this year it died...... I have seedlings popping up though. Mine was in mostly sun and no additional water.

as long as its greening up then its fine. mine took about 2 years, and it bloomed. but the blooms were not that great and they flopped. I cut them off early summer and now it is getting big and green. Be patient, they will. I water about once a week at the most, but sometimes i can go longer without watering.

I planted one from a one gallon pot. It grew to an enormous size, but didn't bloom until it's 3rd year. Mine only gets watered when it rains.

I planted mine from a 1 gallon, in Norther California where they said it wouldn' grow. It has been almost a year, has grown from 1 foot to almost 3 and is in full bloom right now. It get's dappled shade in the morning, full sun mid day and partial sun late afternoon.

Our came up in our cactus garden around 2-3 years ago. I’ve constantly pruned and pinched it, creating a tall shrub ( so it fits in a narrow area and doesn’t shade cactus below it ) It has never bloomed. It gets watered only when dried out. It gets occasional fertilizer.. it’s in full sun most of the day. We love it’s look, even without any flowers. But, hoping we do see it with some…
