Several months ago, I posted a message asking members of California Gardening for some answers regarding transplanting a valuable cherry-blossom tree during the winter. However, I got no response so I am trying again.

With winter soon to come this way again, I would appreciate some gardener telling me if I can safely transplant a fully-grown flowering-cherry tree in the middle of winter. Of course, this is a deciduous tree so there would be no leaves on the tree. I plan to bare-root the tree before transplanting it. The tree has been in my yard for about fifteen years now. If I should move from this present home, I would like to take the tree with me.
