Plant the side that looks like a stalk was sliced off...up.

The roots side is slightly hairier.

They are thirsty plants so be sure you water regularly. As for the depth...4-6 inches should suffice. Good luck!

If you still can't figure it out just plant them on their side, they'll sprout and right themselves.

When I first read the title to your post I came up with a long line of Elephant jokes about ears.... you know, "Q" tips on elephant ears, earrings on the tips of elephant ears. I know, its early, forgive me.

thanks for the info, I'm gonna try to start it indoors in a pot (I have read it takes a while for them to come up) and then plant it outside later in the largest pot I can get. Thanks!
