I would think that if your bare root plants aren't up and flowering by now, they are dead. As to the yield from your pots, I grow Chandler strawberries (raised bed) and I get approx. a berry every other day from each plant for about a month.

the pink blossomed one is usually 'panda' and it's supposed to bear ok- it was developed more as an ornamental. If you have trouble keeping them watered in the pot you could put them in the ground. I second dirt digger's choice- chandler is one of the very best for our area.

I have Pink Lipstick (same species as Pink Panda) and it's ornamental as well. Occasionally we get the berries before the bugs and the birds but we use this more as an ornamental ground cover. They ~seem~ to make more berries when they are potted up but that may be an access issue as far as critters are concerned. Either way, it isn't enough of a difference to make me want to grow them in pots. They are pretty in baskets though!

Interesting so I guess I need about 200 plants to keep up with the boys,wondering if they tolerate shade 'cause I just pulled a ton of strawberry like plants that were taking over a shaded location they had yellow flowers I think, I like the idea of Ornamental groud cover,thanks.

if they had yellow flowers they were waldstonia- a strawberry look alike. The fruits are tasteless and i think the plant is a thug. There's a groundcover plant that is similar, too- can't think of the latin off the top, though.
Wild strawberries make a nice ornamental ground cover as they have fruit that's edible and run like waldstonia but aren't as thuggish. The fruit is soft but very yummy- good for kiddos.

We pull those yellow suckers left and right. We had them growing under the porch one place we lived as children. The babysitter called them snake berries and told us snakes would get us for messing with them to keep us from going under the porch.
