Beth - I can't help you. I haven't seen any for sale at any of the local garden centers ever! But I have seen some large ones growing successfully in this area so there are a few that thrive here. Treat them like cactus (add gravel to the soil). There are online sources but I imagine the size of the tree would be tiny and it would probably take a while to get large.

You could send an email to Plant Delights and ask which species do well in this area. Tony Avent (PDN owner) planted one years ago out at the fair grounds and it acted and bloomed like they do out in southern California but I don't remember which species it was.

if you are still looking to grow acacia trees i have some seeds. they are good, i have 4 trees growing myself.
