Beautiful photos! The color on your A. karasbergensis is alluring. Hard to pick one, but my favorite, I think, is the framesii.

Oh those teeth. I wish my teeth were as pretty. Is there a difference between A.karasbergensis and A. triata var karasbergensis? It is on my extreme want list and I need to knw if there is a difference when I am ordering and people are offering the A. striata var k... if that is the same. Thankyou in advance.

Aloe striata var karasbergensis got moved to its own species... so the two are the same. Which is a good thing as they bloom at different times of the year, the flowers are different, and obviously the plants are much different, and grow very differently... not sure why they were ever the same species.

I just adore the melacanantha and the jaws......and many more, but those two are gorgeous. I saw a Agave melanaacantha at a collectors house the other day and it did get me in the lust mode. I hope you don't mind, I will add some teeth to this discussion. And if anyone knows the two unknown aloe ID's at the bottom. Please tell me.

Will any of these aloe grow outside in winter in zone 8?

Most aloes are Z9b. Some go colder but 8b gets you aloe macrocentra, and aristata, You might be able to grow aloe polyhylla if your summers are not too hot. Your moisture might be a problem though.

I protect all of mine that I grow in Z8b.
