I have 2 Roguchis and yes, they get at least 8 feet tall. Bear in mind that I'm in the Bay Area of Northern California, and so do not have to deal with snow or bad frosts, and my clematis do not die back to the ground. The only problem I've had with Roguchi is that it is a prolific grower, and the 2 trellises I have it on are really crowded with growth, and by mid-summer (esp. my Roguchi in a shady area) it may develop mold. However, it is a very reliable grower/bloomer, for sure. We usually prune it back to about 4 feet tall in winter, and it is already at least 8 feet tall, and it's only May 5th.

I deal with snow and bad frosts and yes Rogucchi does get 8 ft tall. I cut mine back to the ground and it bounces back up to 8 ft (or taller) in no time.

Oh yeah! Easily 8' tall. Mine just flops over the top of the trellis and keeps on going. It grows back from the ground each year. I wish my other clems sent up so many stems. You'll love this one. It blooms all summer long here without ever skipping a beat.
