Maybe it has to do with your browser settings and "popups". Garden Web uses a lot of pop-ups for advertising. These redirect the connection.

I have been having problems too and so have others, it is the site...I hope they get it fixed. Yesterday was REALLY bad for me.
I just closed it an came back later...it was THAT bad.

Today is much better for me at least right now.

They load all of the ads, before loading the text. If you have AdBlock Plus, you won't see all of the ads, but you still have to wait until the text is loaded. They also do not provide digital signatures, so your firewall can't determine who the publisher is and the script hangs up, until you double click to bypass the privacy feature.
It is undoubtedly the worst managed site I have encountered on the web! iVillage is far more concerned with making a profit, than providing a service.

Yeah, I know all about the ads on here and I have an ad-blocker also, but the response time the last 2-3 weeks has gotten terrible and badly degragated. They must be shifting things around on their servers trying to find an answer...I hope.

I use Google Web Accelerator. It helps a bit and it's free. The slowest site for me is Blotanical...a gardening blog site where I TRY to participate, but get very tired of 2 minute wait times to bring up items.

I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and that tends to speed up all my surfing. You might want to try a different browser.

I use Firefox also with the flash blocker installed. It does appear to help. I have started going to The Garden Forums which loads and runs much faster. However, not much traffic on the site.
