Yep- i grow them. Mine is in about 5 hours of sun, in a mostly clay bed that i do little amending to other than occasional mulch because it's well established. I don't have tons of deer come through the front yard but i've never noticed them being bothered. They multiplied very well for me and i have a nice patch now- started with maybe 10 bulbs about 6 yrs ago, and have probably 50 or more now (based on the amount of flowers). The leaves are thin and almost like garlic chives. They aren't around too long- so it's fairly easy to garden around them. They bloom in early june for me, if i recall right, and the blooms last a week or so. They make pretty little cut flowers, too. I'd highly recommend them!

I got my bulbs from Brent and Becky's last winter. I got foliage this spring but no flowers yet. They're in a pot, not the ground, so it's good to hear that they tolerate our clay soils.

They look great but my lawn guys are brutal to any plant with grass-like leaves..even when I have plant tags in front of them.

Since the flowers get kind of tall proportionally (about 24" for me), you could probably plant them back 1 layer and the lawn issue wouldn't matter so much.
