Wow, congratulations! What look do you like? Have you seen any houses around Houzz you'd like to "get the look" of? It seems like you have a lot of lovely wood furniture that looks good with wood trim. I would keep those big beams wood no matter what you do with the rest of the house. Also, will you be keeping the walls white or do you have some favorite colors in mind?

I am kind of a mutt when it comes to specific styles but most likely lean towards traditional with touches of contemporary. Yes, the big wood beams are staying for sure! The furnishing isn't ours. We haven't moved yet and the current owners were nice enough to send pics our way so that we could start playing around with ideas. I'd like to warm things up a bit in terms of colors.

I'm a mutt too! I think when it comes to the trim around windows and doors and on banisters, it should probably be somewhat consistent because your first floor is so wonderfully open. The trim can tie it together while your colors can change from room to room. This is so exciting, I can't wait to see what you do!
