Red Abyssinium banana in zone 8a

Last april I planted a Red Abysinium banana. It is now an amazing 14 ft giant. Some online nurseries say these are cold hardy to my zone, but I've also read online that they are only cold hardy to zone 9a. Have any zone 8a gardeners out there had any luck with this (false) banana?
