Are you planning to grow the seed all the way to fruiting age?
Or just planning to use the seed-grown tree as root stock?

Planting the seeds is nothing special, just plant the viable seeds in a nursery pot with good soil and protect from frost.

However, the fruits from seed-grown trees will be a gamble. You might end up with a good breed, or it could be the nastiest tasting fruit that you will want to burn the tree (seriously).

Well, I WAS harboring hopes and dreams for this little seed from a very tasty fruit, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Now you're sure that the seed has no protective coating on it that needs to be removed? by the by Wet, thank you for the chuckle and fair warning

Scarring the citrus seeds might be overkill.
I have not had the need to scar seeds of our navel oranges, meyer lemons and miniature lemons (calamansi) in order to germinate them.

We give the seedlings to friends all the time, and let them know that when the rootstock is old enough, they should come back to us so that we can graft the "good" fruiting branches from the mother trees.
Some of them come back for grafting, some choose to take the chance with their seed grown trees. I guess we will find out in a couple of years if their gamble paid off hehe.

Sweet fruit does not always mean that the resulting tree will be exactly as good. It may be better, it may be worse.
Thats just how genetics work. I was even told that some hybrids these days produce sterile, non-viable seeds.

Either way, it is still fun growing the trees from seed. And the world needs all the trees we can plant these days :)
