They say not. I'm trying to remember which one it is - Maybe Woodward. The area right above UTEM is their conifer collection. Lot of recent plantings and some real old ones as well

make that ETUM not what I wrote

That's amazing...perfectly shaped letters...wow!

I think the hedge shrubs are like 3-4 feet high, not that tall. They have been replaced once, when they got too big (or messy). They have a "tower" on a hill you can climb at the end of the ETUM and look down at the shrubs to read it.

Satellite ID Challenge question... what are these trees in the dark grouping east of the parking lot and west of the road?

Taxodium, but I'm not sure of the species - probably distichum.

Noki. I think you're more correct on that height than I stated. I might be confusing myself with the hedges at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Here's a picture taken in 2005 from the tower you mention.

That'd look good if a few deer got in and started eating some of the letters ;-)

as far as I could tell, no deer prevention is employed for the hedge and most perimeter fences I saw were in the 4-5 foot height range - Easy for deer to jump. Many individual plants in the collection are provided protection, but not the hedge.

Any other evergreen hedges around the world to make a pattern we can look at? Any big mazes?

Two mazes

Live Maps' server is down...probably too many hits from the conifer forum made it fail!

Resin's coordinates look OK on google maps, but you'll have to zoom in.

I know how you guys hate to copy and paste links, so here is the other one...remember to zoom in.

Thanks Resin!!
