Well, every weekend is a bit of a "fix up the basement" weekend. It suspect it will go on for ever in bits and pieces.

You saying this garage is in need of organization? Emily - what to reorganize? We will enjoy your efforts via photo next Tuesday! My son's family (5 kids!) just moved into new residence - you know what I will be doing - HELPING UNPACK!

I should say, the garage pictured above is not mine. I WISH it looked like that.

I think I'm long overdue for a garage sale, truthfully. Just too much stuff!

After that, the basement. That will be another good one.

I will be enjoying the never ending battle between what is right, and what the inept contractor did who flipped our house.

We've gradually been updating our kitchen, and now it's time to replace the 90's iron pot rack we have that is embellished with grapevines and which hangs over our small kitchen island. It's beautiful, but I'm ready for a more 21st Century pot rack of simple stainless steel.

So a few days ago I ordered a Cuisinart stainless steel octagonal pot rack from Bed, Bath and Beyond, and sent my husband to Home Depot to get 2 pieces of stainless steel chain 24" long each. Since the pot rack arrived today, we'll find out this weekend if I measured correctly for the chain required to hang it from the ceiling.

I'll take the lovely old pot rack to the consignment center where it will find a happy new owner. We'll also try to fit in that new Meryl Streep movie, "Hope Springs", and watch some golf on TV. Of course, that's between answering questions for houzzers who have Design Dilemmas!

I'll be removing doors and door frames, crown molding, and baseboards from my hallway, and stripping old paint from them.

I am cleaning Oyster Shells to apply to the wall in the new Maryland Green Show Home. It's a stinky job, recycling all of these shells. I am figuring that I will need about 450 of them to do the wall over the fireplace! Eating them was the fun part! Wish me luck!

Playing a lot this weekend. Have family company. Did some photography of a real life blacksmith my husband knows. He makes iron things. I think I will use software I have to make some of the pictures look like they are from the 1800's.

Had taken my son to our farm for for flying his 1.5 meter wing span Airplane ,took two hours to clean up the Concrete air strip but it was fun .

Just did the roof on the cabin...finished it much quicker than I thought. So tomorrow is a free day if you don't count the cooking and baking today and tomorrow for the family BBQ! I think the roof was easier! LOL... next big prject will be remodeling an entire mobile home...which was saved of course for cooler weather! Another roof first than new siding, then the interior...hopefully it will keep me busy this winter as will only be working on it week-ends!

Removing 20 year old wallpaper, finding another paper underneath! Fabric softener and water is great for removing glue etc. amazingly walls are looking ok. Hoping will be done by Monday!

I wonder if that will work on the oyster shells?!

I just finished staining my new fence a lovely pecan brown. It looks great but really shows that some landscaping is in order. What to do, what to do! Just can't tackle that right now so I focused on something that would provide immediate gratification - plucking ripe cherry tomatoes from the vine directly into my mouth!

I also pruned my over protective hydrangea - hope she won't hold it against me when it's time to bloom next summer.

I should be working on my craft room/area. It shares a space with the washer/dryer that are in a closet in that room, and a pantry we just use as storage. But it seems to be the catch all, as you can plainly see. I actually just did an art show so everything is in such a state of disarray and I'm trying to get motivated to do it... Oh, and if you read my posts. you know I'm a DIY person because I'm broker than a joker! haha... So here is a breakdown of the cost of my "organization system...

3 cabinets off of craigslist - 25 bucks
Pink Paint - off the "oops" counter at Lowe's - 5 bucks
Filing Cabinet - Goodwill 50% off day 4 bucks
Pink spray paint for filing cabinet - 1 buck
counter top... craigslist, 12 bucks
Desk along the wall - goodwill 50% off day - 7 bucks
shelving unit that my rubber stamps are on - goodwill 50% off day - 3 bucks
Misc storage things on the counter top (shelves and the like) - goodwill 50% off day - total about 8 bucks.
I also have some other things in there I got for free, so as you can see, I'm very thrifty. I do like how it looks when it is done. And the rest of the family doesn't dump anything in there! haha...

oh I also have 2 free office chairs (craigslist) that go in there, so I can have friends over to scrapbook and stuff. I also do alot of recycled art, so some of the stuff you see... beer box, aluminum cans, etc... will be used in art projects.

So I'm hoping to have that done this weekend!

Love the craftroom idea ...sounds great and love the way you are repurposing and saving money too! I'm building my whole cabin that way so far everything was free except the tar paper and tar for the roof! Wish we could see it finished along with some of the other projects!

Thanks Rags;) I will post a pic of it finished, I may change things up a little bit honestly:) Check out Goodwill 50% off days, they are wonderful! Definitely Craigslist as well, and don't forget to join the freecycle community in your area, you would be surprised about what people give away:) And you can request things too (if you haven't already joined freecycle and don't know:) )... Another good thing to do, is go out before bulk trash pick up. You can sometimes find things you need. I know I sound bad, but I am seriously all about the savings! :)

Organizing my plans and moving them to another area of the back yard ,so the Exevator will be able to dig for the foundations of the green house I am hoping to build befor the cold whather will get here .

We are redoing our master bath. I bought two clearance mirrors and painted them today to match my new copper vessel sinks. Going to take awhile to finish.

Been thinking about your garage I think it could use shelving on the empty walls. Plus put up some pegboard to hold small tools and other things. Next to the door would be a great place for a boot tray and hooks to hang up coats too. I would also build in shelves above the freezer and use that space to store freezer items. Also there are some great new products out there now to use to store totes on the ceilings! I have a few other ideas but don't want to overload you!

Too many projects on the brain couldn't sleep, got up at six am did a floor plan for a client, then washed the floors, and met a freind for coffee all before nine am. Had a full day, met some new clients and now wishing had someone to make me dinner:)

Wow, Susan, you do more before 9am than I can manage to accomplish in a day. You deserve take-out!

Renovating a guest bathroom. The house was only built in the 90s but the bathrooms all look 10 years older! It's going okay so far, though we've hit a slight snag with the shower which might delay things a few days.

Yesterday I had a total change of plans and a welcome surprise! My hubby decided I needed a day out - shopping! He took me to the Great Mall and bought me bunches of new clothes. I love this man!

I painted the living room and dining room then tackled painting the patio furniture! Anyone got ideas on how to get red paint on your white dog who was downwind of your spraypainting? Please keep in mind I cannot use turpentine or mineral spirits on my (pink) dog. ;)

Susan - Yes, he did! But the secret is - he LOVES to shop! He got himself a pair of Desert Storm camo boots from Oakley and he's happy as a clam. Me too!!!

But Bobby we guys are so Good, we do it for our wives all the time !

Our condo is up for sale, so no projects if we can help it;) This discussion is reminding me of what we'll need to do when we buy a house, though (no buying until we sell, sigh).

@Leneda: If it's acrylic-based paint, a couple of washes with shampoo and water should do the trick. Otherwise, you may want to ask a dog groomer. I saw something in the news about creative groomers who dye these poor dogs in all kinds of designs, so they might know what to do.
