Where to buy large Skyrocket Juniper

Calling local nurseries tells me that they aren't getting skyrocket junipers. I want to plant now, to get the roots going.

Does anyone know where I can buy a large plant (4 feet, maybe)? Or any plant, anyway. I have a real hard time with online shopping for this. They are not clear on the sizes or ages of their plants. And the prices are all over the board, even for apparently similar plants. Pretty confused.

The criteria that we are buying this for: 5800' rocky mountains, south exp, narrow area. The 2' diameter is the important thing. I also like that it is evergreen and native. Although if anyone has any other ideas of what to put in this odd hole in the middle of my entry, I'd be GLAD to hear it. (Especially if you can recommend where to get it!)

I was also looking at Ilex 'Sky Pencil' Japanese Holly. Does anyone know which one grows faster?

Maybe I don't want something so tall. 20'. More like 6-10 ft...

Maybe you can find the perfect plant with this database.

It is difficult to find something that doesn't get too large.

With a 6 to 10 ft. height requirement you may should be considering a shrub or dwarf conifer.

check out the link .. go figure on the first link being the yellow pages ...

you want very large transplants.. and i would suggest that smaller plants.. transplant with much less stress ... and would ask you to consider no more size than half of what your dreams are ...

and also keep in mind.. as trees.. conifers continue to grow.. FOREVER ... they do NOT stop at some magical height ... most size estimates are at 10 years ... and at 20 years.. there is the potential for being double the size ...

i dont know your zone.. your clime or your 'hood.. so all i can do is google for you ... expanding your search from 'nurseries' to include 'tree farms' ....

This nursery I highly recommend. And I've selected the ideal plant for you for growth rate and narrowness, albeit a bit wider than 2' in the long haul.

They do sell 'Skyrocket' as well but that grows substantially-quicker.

Plants are shipped root-ball intact in bags and shipping is cheap. You won't find a better deal, that I can promise you. And, I've been around the block a long time.

The roots aren't going to do much at this time of the year anyway, the time for getting major root extension right after planting is in fall.

Early enough that the roots haven't done it already.

I thought about that exact plant maple_grove. Evergreen Nursery just didn't have it.
