No it definitely is not. Hen of the woods is very feathery in appearance. This one is much too solid.

I'm not sure what you've got there, but I know it is not hen (chicken) of the woods.

Good mushroom experts are hard to find. I've been studying for years, and am not even close. Good luck in finding someone who can identify it. Usually it's tricky to identify just from viewing a photo. One has to check the spore print, spore color, gills, etc.

I do think you have a Laetiporus sulphureus. No two are alike. Let me do a google on the name and see what kind of variations we come up with. Then, you can decide.

As you can see, they are often very fleshy in the beginning.

Yeah, you have a Chicken of the Woods. Leatiporus sulphureus or cinncinatus. They are very similar. You can find good recipes online if you do a search.

Hen of the Woods are Grifola Frondosa. Easy to tell them apart. Hens are much tastier.

Are these pics from this year? Its quite early for them.
