I've never tried it, but I don't see a problem with it. If they start to show signs of drying-out, you could spritz them with water....

I just took a cutting from a patch of wild prickly pears growing along the side of the road (Shhhhhhh, that was probably against the law) these were fruiting, do yours???

Yeah i figure they should be fine and thought bout misting them as well. i mean you figure they drain all the water out of there cells for the winter months anyhow. my garage is not insulated so it maybe stay 5* warmer them outside thats it. yes removing any plant along side any roads,highways or whatever is frowned upon. but your took a pad not the whole plant :). wink wink i have done the same before. thanks for the reply.. yes mine have fruit also. if the fruit is big enough you can eat it,but tons of seeds...

No, it was only a pad...I wouldn't take the whole plant, they're too big anyway.

The fruit on these were red, egg size, with a berry flavor & melon (???) texture, and yes, many seeds. I'm the only one in my family that likes them LOL.
