We have a commercial range as well - but were told we cannot put cabinets on either side. Is Wolf different? or are these special cabinets?

Correct, you cannot put cabinets on either side of a commercial range. The ovens are not insulated and they could set fire to the cabinetry.

This on the other hand is a Residential range from Wolf, in 60" size with a French Top option. Like all residential Wolf ranges they're fine with cabinets around.

If you talk to techs/mfgs. of restaurant ranges they will tell you that you CANNOT put anything "flammable" next to restaurant ranges. Use a cabinet faced with s/s, tile or asbestos along with a countertop that can not catch fire from burners otherwise you can move stove close to cabinets. Commercial ovens are insulated but it's the heat from the burners that is the biggest danger. I've owned commercial ranges in two different million dollar plus homes and everything was close and no problems. Just use necessary precautions and you will be fine!

The hood is one of ours. It was custom built for this kitchen. Nice to see it thriving in its natural habitat.
