My back yard haven

I love my front and back yards, but ever since I built my pond area last summer, I spend most of my time in the back. Here's a few pics from this evening

In the last pic, you'll see the corner of the house in 'Green'. I'm in the process of painting my house from gold to green. I did a corner to see if I was going to like it. Way better!

ggschmerl, I love your backyard. It feels intimate and romantic. A place where one might actually sit and relax and just enjoy the atmosphere.

I am particularly envious of the pond and the hardscaping that surrounds it.

The green color on the house can only make it even more restful and will allow your florals to really stand out.

I can see why you spend so much time in your backyard, I want to visit you and spend time back there too!!!

Fabulous, fabulous job. I am so envious of people who can do a mixure of plants and make it look like it all goes together. I personally tend to use the same plants over and over again because if I stick something else in there, it usually turns out to be a disaster.

Love your garden. Show us some closer views of the garden bed sections.

Thank you Liz. I chose green because I thought it would look good with the gardens.

    Mindy,

Your back yard garden is absolutely stunning!
    Really beautiful with every turn.
    Congratulations of a terrific job.

Your roses are gorgeous. I really love the Cabot rose and the bird house. In fact, that whole area is Cottage Garden DELUXE!
I am GREEN with envy! So many pretty plants in there. Please be sure to take and post more pictures when they all bloom!

And that last rose - amazing - even the leaves are so unusual!

    Very cottagey indeed.

What a haven indeed!! It is a wonderful space you have created. Of course you would find it near impossible to leave. That is the way it should be. It looks like you take a lot of pride in your place and it is richly deserved.
I know what you mean about not wanting to leave the water feature. If I don't build one out back I may never go back there again.
    Wonderful garden!

No wonder you spend lots of time there! I would too. What a private and beautiful retreat you have created...love that last rose. It is very unique.

I know lots of work went into that garden but it just looks super.

I like the new green color too.

Enjoy the summer and be sure to keep posting as things change.

Yep, what the others said. ;)

And, thanks for taking so many overall shots so we can see the space! You've done a great job of making everything work together. I can see why you spend all of your time back there!

That last rose is just gorgeous...

Gorgeous! Love it, all of it, just love it! Wish I was your neighbor!

Love the small pond water feature and find it very interesting and creative the way you have used the stacked blocks to hide the back of the waterfall. The entire garden is wonderful. You obviously have the talent and have created such a beautiful garden.

I really like the new green paint too, BTW. Green is my favorite color and that green is particularly beautiful!
    Great choice!
It's going to look really smart.

Mindy ~ I would spend most of my time back there too. You've done a fantastic job and it really is lovely and peaceful. The green color of your house is very nice also and everything will look really good with it. Green is serene. :-)

    Enjoy ~ FlowerLady

Oh just "budge up" I'm moving in...love it, love it, love it all, good on you, Martha

"Budge up" means move up to make a space, lol, it sounded rude when I re-read it, M

I enjoyed your photos. You have a beautiful yard! I came here to put a link to photos of my back yard, and it is not so pretty, but I'll do it anyway.

I'd spend all my time there too! It's fantastic.

We all must be thinking of backyards. I have some questions for the discussion forum about backyards!!
