Progress Report

Hi All - it is difficult to remember it is still only April. Yesterday I had a very strong notion to try putting one tomato plant out......there are still no leaves on the trees, so I need to calm down.

On the upside, the snow is gone in my yard, although there is still a bit in very shady spaces.

This is the old shed:

And, here is my wonderful new view!!!

Memo, a deal I couldn't refuse! In the spring I like to cruise the side yeard of my favourite nursery. This is where the flowering adn fruit bushes over winter...

Here is my little veg garden around the internet tower. I have garlic, shallots, mescun mix, snap peas and hopefully marigolds and nastursiums.

And lastly, a view of the front after raking. Lots left to do!!

Thanks for looking, I know this is a little long.

Happy Spring.

Oh, that is a lovely, new view! I love a treed lot to look upon. Do you have a lot of trouble with deer and other wildlife? I can sooo see a Winding bed out along the tree line to the back of the yard.

Since it's too early to plant yet, you could be sharpening tools, making new beds if you so desire and raking and fertilizing your lawn. I'm so thrilled that we are having all this nice weather prior to the planting season (which is mid-late May. I'll have everything else done when it's time to plant making so much less work all at the same time.

    Have fun!

WOW you are really making progress. I love your shed and that wonderful view ! So much land. sigh...I have a tiny space...so I'll just look at yours :)c

It wasn't too long at all. It's like a little visit to your garden and even a close up view of the veggie garden around the tower! Look at those sprouts!

I love progress reports, and details, and a chance to snoop around a bit. Fun things.

I love your place and didn't think your post was long enough. : -) What did you do with your shed? It looks like it had lots of useage left in it. I do love your new long view though and don't blame you for taking the shed away. Keep posting pictures.

Thanks all!! I put the shed on Kijiji, for free. I posted it just before I went to bed, and by lunch the next day I had about 40 hits. The winner said he'd done it before, had a trailer ready to go, and would clean up. He showed up with 4 strong lads, and they took it apart. It was quite a morning. They were very hard workers and quite the comedians. I had to move about 3 pickup loads of wood out of it first, and I look like I've been beaten up!! MeMo, I wanted you to see the Butterfly Bush!! It had actually over-wintered in Ottawa. Didn't you post about having a hedge of butterfly bushes(maybe I'm crazy??) My neighbour is a butcher/sausage-maker, and has a 'deer-garden' in behind those trees you see past where the shed used to be....I hope I do see some, preferrably not in my garden(and he assures me he doesn't hunt much anymore...) Trailrunner, it's fun having more space, and I actually wanted more. I am now very daunted by the amount of raking I need to do...lol!! What would I have done with more space!! On the upside, as you can see, there are exisiting gardens which have been quite neglected, I think. There are, however, interesting plants coming up, so watch for the "Identify This Plant" posts!!

    Cheers to all.

Richmond Nursery?!?!?! I work in Kanata & often go there myself. (I live out near Lanark) Where are you?

It all looks great, by the way!

    All the best,

Gail - too funny!! I almost bought the blue house in Lanark Village!! Sadly Tom Hanks and Shelly Long were living in the crawl space. Building Inspector said he saw Steve McQueen down there too - LOL. I am just past Franktown....hey neighbour. I was at Richmond Nursery on Sunday. I love the back/side lot this time of year, as this is where the bushes have over-wintered, so I figure I have half a chance of keeping it alive.
    Cheers All.

I love your house and that porch is to die for.

You've done a terrific job! The fruits of your labor will show before you know it.

That is a beautiful view! Hopefully, spring will be your way soon. I just love buddleia -- great for the butterflies and deer hate it.

What a great start. What a great house. What a great view.
Look at the gorgeous peeling bark on your birch.

You will have a lovely garden.
