    thanks, Andrea

Hi Andrea, red plantain is a foliage plant. It has red roundish medium sized leaves and is very drought tolerant. It can be invasive by seed, but the flowers are ugly so just dead head them when they come up. I like it. I grow it in my parking strip where it is very hot and dry and it looks good all summer long. You can plant it next to a gold leaved plant and it makes for a nice contrast. The Bellvue botanical garden has them growing in with yellow creeping jenny and it looks very nice. Would you like to try one? Karen
