My puppies

My pups have finally arrived. It's been a long year already here, so I'm just now getting to posting the pups. They are 3 weeks tomorrow.

This will be our girls only litter. She went into labor at 12:30 am, and had to have a csection at 2:30am. We definitely wanted her spayed if she had any problems, so.... Ah well, she is the other half's BABY!

Anyway, she had 4 puppies, almost 2 pounds of puppies there! They are all healthy and starting to wiggle all over. They are still a "puppy pile" though, so I don't get many good photos! Soon though!!

Less than two days before- actually about 34 hours before! Mom and her belly with dad sitting alongside.

Awwwwww so cute! I have never seen Pom puppies that young. One of them looks whiter, or is that just me? Sorry to hear she had to have surgery... I was scared of that too but Daisy did a good job.

Hope you're enjoying their "immobile" phase before they're out terrorizing!

Both of our Pomeranians are very light colored so we figured they would be light as well. The two boys are darker in color and the two girls are lighter.I think the boys will look alot like their mom and the girls like their dad. Prettoo is the mom, and her parents and sibs were all colors-from black all the way down to her orangy color, and the dad, Mr., has a line of just blond. In research I found that blond was recessive, so there was no surpise they are all light!

We already are seeing the pups wiggle out of their box- They bunch up a blanket and head out over a lip! Then they don't know what to do! If their feet ever touch the ground after they really start, I'll be amazed! The kids barely let the adult dogs walk, much less puppies!

Vrie, this is the website I got the phenotype predictor program from. It's a little program (free) you download and I see it has Pomeranians as an option. Poms have lots of color choices! It didn't have Basset Hounds but Dachshunds worked for my dogs. It's easier to tell what genes you are working with once they have actually had a litter.

There is also a good summary of dog coat color alleles on the U of Saskatchewan website.

What cute pictures! I didn't even realize pomeranians came in black or blond as you mention. My brother has one that's sort of orangy.

Hope the family is doing good. I know from when I was sent pictures of my puppy after he was born that even one week that goes by means a big difference in their development. It's fun to watch it happen.
