I remember another room I saw similar to your bedroom. A panel of drapes were attached directly at the ceiling height, it gave the room more height and also the drape was in a solid color similar to the wall. If you have a closet at the foot of the bed you might put in a mirrored sliding door to open up the room. Hope this helps

Curtains, or drapes, with a thermal backing will hide all the light and glare:)

In a recent post similar to yours, someone suggested a big 4 panel screen behind the bed. I thought that was clever. If you did a screen you could use contrasting different fabrics on each side of the screen.
In lieu of that, draperies the color of your wall would be gorgeous. I would use a solid in that brown color, or if you want it to draw attention to the bed's wood frame, use contrasting color found in your rug. I still would go with a solid and bring some pattern in elsewhere, such as throw pillows or bed cover.. If you decide to do draperies, either put a black out shade on that window and keep it closed or use blackout lining on your drapes, because you don't want the light from that hidden window to ruin your look. Drapery panels are a great option. Here is a bedroom project from our designer Karlene Hunter Baum where she uses a solid fabric to create the look:



From you photos there does not appear to be a lot of pattern elsewhere in the room so adding a print or stripe to the draperies is definitely an option. I recommend using the same fabric on the roman shade to tie everything together.

I think since the windows are so small, I'd cover both of them and wrap the treatment around the corner, anging the bed there. Why do you need windows if you're sleeping - you have a ceiling fan to stir the AC air?

I ditto the solid curtain idea with blackout panels. I like the panel idea, but I think you'd lose too much space in the room. As far as the small window, because the room is tight on space, I think a blind that is the color of your wall curtain would work nicely.

When considering a curtain/drape, consider covering the area of the wall behind the bed without a window too. This way the curtain/drape will balance the room. If you cover just the window you will have a very unbalanced look. Also unlike the picture above that used fabric that you can see the light from the window, consider using a curtain or drape with a blackout effect. No one will ever know that the window is off set. A coordinating roman shade will give you some interest.

The bed is beautiful, but looks too big for the room, compared with the size of the windows. Anyway, drapes with blackout shades would be the obvious winner here, and another option would be panels on a sliding rod that has 3-4 compartments for layering different materials. It's really nice and you can add whatever fabric you want to it. Perhaps an ombre of your brown tones would work.

Thanks so much for all the input! I will definitely do black out drapes on the entire wall. Still not sure about the color, I was considering white or off white to match the bedding but now with the suggestions am not sure. Should I do something to match the wall color, and should it not have pattern?
