OH BOY! Not only are all the plants sprouting like crazy, but we get

THUNDERSTORM!

Yah, I just love spring to.

On Friday when my greenhouse was supposed to be started...we woke to inches of snow on the ground. Still picked up the supplies but didn't get anything done.

So a friend and I took off to plant shop. We went to one place that has several greenhouses....before we got there we were getting a few snow pellets...We went into the greenhouse and looked around for a while...then went to go outside to the next one.....and we were in a blizzard. You couldn't even see the next greenhouse. Didn't stop us though. haha. Off we went with empty trays in hand and came back with them full....and well we looked like snow people....poor plants were a little white too.

Greenhouse was started yesterday working between the snow storms.....ohhhhhhh lots of fun. Did someone say.."I love spring"

You cursed me! I'm expecting snow TONIGHT!

Oh well, at least I spent 5 hours today prepping flower beds. And I even threw out a bunch of seed -- it won't sprout for a couple weeks! My idea of the ideal direct sow involves "light aids germination"-- meaning I get to rake a little bit, throw seed out, rake a bit more, and call it done!

Anyway, I still love spring!

So sorry for you people who are still frozen, getting snow etc. but we have had a thunderstorm about a week ago, and it hasn't even frozen at night since April 3. That's a little odd. It's been in the 20's during the day for the past several days. Yaaaah! I love April in Manitoba. In May, we inevitably pay the price.

Oh don't say that! :( I really want a "normal" May for a change - pleasant weather and no snowstorms!

Marcia, we seem to get similar weather, even if it's a day apart - haven't you noticed that May has been awful for about the last ten years? It's always cold and rainy. Course if it wants to be warm & sunny this year it can go ahead...

I just checked the weather references in my old garden journal from 1999 to 2002. You're right, Gil, there were some miserable Mays back then - i must have a selective memory! Way back in the '80s, (she said in a creaky old voice), we had some lovely warm Mays. We should be due again soon, eh? :)

I'm really hoping we don't get a repeat of last year's May. We had a very nasty cold spell that froze all the newly opened leaves on the poplars and aspens. It took them most of the summer to recover and leaf out properly.
