I have always found lobelia to be extremely frost/cold tolerant. Perhaps it just got a little shocked being taken out all at once?

I would plant it out somewhere that doesn't really matter, I bet it will grow back. It's pretty tough stuff for me!

Is this the annual kind?...mine do the same thing, it will continue to grow on and eventually convert back to normal coloured leaves with a good weekly feeding of Miracle Gro ;)

My leaves turned reddish too this spring. I have lots of green growth coming now. They are blooming right now. They are fine. My Raspberry Parfait Dianthisis leaves did the same thing as well. They are blooming too. I find the red doesn't mean anything except that they got a little cold. I actually like the colour.

Thanks, good to know. I wanted to plant them out front with the petunias, which are already planted.

Someone make these hail storms stop!!! We have been getting them off and on for the last week or so. The poor plants. :-(

My lobelia always turns a maroonish-red in the spring. I agree with Shelly, I think that it is acclimation to the cold weather rather than just the sun. Because my lobelia in the bright sun is just as red as the lobelia that only get an hour or two of direct sun. As the summer warms up, the plants always seem to outgrow the red leaves. I'd say no worries and plant them out.
