Suggestions for our Anniverary gift please

DH and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary today. (We'll be partying in July). He suggested we buy a new rose or tree to mark the occasion. The man does know the way to my heart. I want something hardy and long-lived, able to deal with chinook, drought, etc. Much as I love things like weeping birch and weeping willow, I don't want to lose this plant. I'm leaning more towards trees than roses, because I always buy roses for myself anyhow. Suggestions, anyone?

I would get a tree too. For hardiness and long life spam, how about a beautiful Picea pungens 'Fat Albert' Spruce tree, this cultivar is very dense with steel blue needles, one of the best varieties for growing as a feature tree.

Or if you like Spring flowers, how about a flowering Crabapple, Malus 'Thunderchild'. Deep purple-red leaves, rose/pink flowers in the spring, dark red/purple fruit, a popular tree for its beauty.

Silver leafed tree. I like that idea. I just bought a Polar Bear Willow. It has fuzzy leaves with fuzzy branches. It's supposed to have huge pussy willows in the spring. I just love it. A nice contrast tree. Better yet it comes from the artic. How hardy can it be.
