You wanna see it in real, CL. I thought I had experienced blue with Proud Tradition last year but this one REALLY is blue! The camera makes it look a little bit mauve. :) Absolutely stunning!

My irises are just starting. Some of the sibs are just about done, though. 'Supreme Sultan' bloomed yesterday - i'll have pictures in the gallery one of these years when i get the ambition up to fight with PhotoBucket!

    Beautiful Iris's

I love them all! I always like ones with broken colour but I think my favourite is Palais Royale. It looks like it would really stand out in the garden.

Mine are halfway through the bloom season. I think, overall, everything here is blooming early this year, but it seemed like everyone else had iris blooming long before we did! We expanded our iris bed hugely last fall, adding 37 varieties! And we were so anxious to see which ones would bloom this year. Without going out and counting them, I'd say nearly half did! Some are quite spectacular! Can't wait for next year!

Ginny, your iris are just beautiful!

Ginny, I really like the first two but does the first one have to be named after a snake (I hate snakes)? I really like blue iris and World Premiere is beautiful. The odd duck has nice coloring to. Marg

GORGEOUS Thanks for sharing and making me re- think of ones to add to the wish list. Now I will have to convince my hd. to dig up a "little"more areas that will have to be fenced in from the deer---so many be it should be dug even bigger incase I have more dreams After all what's another acre --or two more LOL Lois

where do you get yours from? what are the best nurseries to order from?

I order almost exclusively from Trail's End and Chapman's- both in Ontario. Large healthy rizomes and awesome customer service. :) I have somewhere in the neighbourhood of 400 irises here although not all have bloomed yet.

Yay!!! for Lois!!! BTW I think the NOID in the fourth picture is Violet Turner......or so the tag that I found buried beside her said. =:/ I will post a few more on Friday as a couple more have opened.

As with many or all other flowers, Irises are addictive! So proud to be an Iris Enabler! :)

Hmmmmm. Well I just came in from the garden where I found that tag. Checking it out on Google, that baby looks nothing like Violet Turner! So, the tags must be mixed up. Like that is a surprise. Good grief!

PS Lois, I got Anaconda Love last fall so she made it through the winter here in Edmonton, mild as it was, with no snow cover.

Lois, we haven't had any problems with deer eating our iris. I don't they're a deer favorite, although deer will eat anything! We actually had deer tracks in among the ones at camp last winter but they stuck to eating other plants.

ID on the Odd Duck. That baby is Let's Boogie trying to open a maiden mutant bloom. It never did open all the way and the bud below it died. Guess she was just boogied out. City of Stratford did that the first year blooming too and now she (he) blooms like mad! More blooms on the new thread. :)
