All annual or hanging basket fuchsias need shade. Swingtime is a trailing or cascading type of annual fuchsia, best in a hanging basket or a container where it can show off its cascading habit. This plant will grow in almost complete shade (like under a covered porch) but must have at the very least protection from any afternoon sun. And they don't much care for heat, either. Make sure it gets plenty of water.
