maybe it's just too soon for them. Did you make a note of when they bloomed last year? My early daffodils are already in full bloom, but others are not yet yet blooming.

My early bloomers also are blooming but, not King Albert variety.

Daffodils bloom on energy stored from the previous year. When you first bought them, they were full of energy from the grower's optimal growing conditions. However, last year they may not have gotten enough sun to make enough energy for THIS year. Daffodils need about 2 months of good sun for optimal bloom, so when the trees leafed out last year, they may not have left them enough sun.

And all this is assuming that you left the foliage in place to absorb nutrients after they bloomed last year and didn't "tidy them up" too early to get what they needed. Daffodils get what they need from the sun absorbed through foliage. You can supplement this by sprinkling some general (10-10-10) fertilizer now so that the bulbs can absorb it over the next few months.

Mine haven't done anything this year either. I have wondered if it was because we really didn't have enough cold to chill the bulbs. I think they need some chilling in order to bloom well.

i left the foliage on. Maybe there just wasn't enough sun once the trees leafed out.
