We're looking to re-do the master bath in our condo, and I'm trying to keep costs in check because we will probably move in a couple years if the housing market ever recovers. We bought high (in 2005), and I don't want to get carried away when prices are still lower than we paid. I actually fell in love with the garden tub when we bought the place, but it's ended up being a major thorn in my side---it's a combined shower (no separate stall), with sliding framed textured glass doors. The tub is a beast to keep clean, and it's somewhat difficult to climb into. The surround is builder's grade ceramic biscuit-colored tile, which carries over to the outside of the tub and ledge. Personally, I'd give up the garden tub in favor of an oversized shower stall, but I'm wondering what homebuyers think? We have a second bathroom with a conventional tub. I want to be sure that I'm not spending extra money on the renovation and learn next year that buyers are disappointed there's no tub in the master bath.
